Full-Time Proposal Writer/Editor

Job Description

As the Proposal Writer, you will be a key member of the Proposal Operations and Growth Teams, responsible for assembling, editing, writing, and content for Management, Technical, Past Performance, and Resume volumes of Federal Government proposals.

You will work collaboratively with Proposal Managers, Technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Business Development staff to ensure the successful creation and submission of high-quality and compliant proposals. This role demands exceptional writing and editing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Writes and edits proposal content for effectiveness (e.g., clarity, readability, accuracy, persuasiveness, and compliance) as well as style (e.g., grammar, punctuation, word usage, sentence structure, and spelling).
  • Assists Proposal Managers with resolving all comments, incorporating all edits, and recovering all content after each Color Team Review.
  • Interviews and/or works with Technical SMEs to gather and draft new technical content for readability and compliance without changing or obfuscating the meaning.
  • Drafts accurate, responsive, compelling text for proposals, including background/context, executive summary, technical approach overview, activity components, and technical annexes.
  • Utilizes Proposal and Past Performance Databases to identify and write initial content for compliant proposal responses.
  • Analyzes solicitation requirements and makes recommendations regarding the structure and presentation of proposal narratives.
  • Works with Capture Managers to gather and integrate proposal themes, discriminators, and key success factors based on guidance.
  • Participates and plays an active role in regular meetings to share best practices, information, problem-solving, etc., with other team members.
  • Supports content development for the proposal content library, including past performance development and other reusable proposal content.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience)

  • At least 6 years of experience writing and editing Technical, Management, Past Performance, and Resume volumes for Federal Government Proposals.
  • Highly familiar with the anatomy of Federal Government proposals, including sections, parts, and instructions.
  • Highly proficient with the application and use of Shipley best practices and Government Printing Office Style.
  • The ability to organize and execute multiple technical proposal editing/writing tasks simultaneously under tight/changing deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, and analysis skills, planning and organizational proficiency, and sound business judgment
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiar with standard IT terminology, which includes industry-leading services and solutions.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Journalism or a related field.
