World Relief is seeking a Content Writer intern to join our Content Team this summer. Do you have a knack for storytelling and a keen eye for grammar? Do you want to grow as a writer and editor while making a difference in the world? If so, then an internship with World Relief’s Content Team might be for you! The Content Intern will support our team of writers in developing social media copy, writing emails, editing stories from our local offices and more. You’ll gain marketable experience as both a writer and an editor while getting an inside look at what it’s like to work for a global non-profit marketing team alongside supportive and fun colleagues.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Report to the Sr. Content Writer, this person will assist with writing projects including social media copy, email campaigns, editing and developing raw stories for publication across various platforms
  • Research and organize information for potential content opportunities
  • Learn and utilize the Storybrand framework for sales content writing
  • Provide a fresh viewpoint for reaching new target audiences through storytelling
  • Be a responsible self-starter, able to develop original copy as well as work in collaboration with the rest of the Marketing Team
  • Effectively manage schedule and competing deadlines
  • Communicate in a clear and timely manner in regard to project updates

  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Open to students in their last year of an associate’s degree or the last 2 years of a bachelor’s degree. Also open to recent graduates, or others with under 1 year of professional writing experience
  • Online portfolio of recent work or 3 samples of writing submitted with application
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) and Google Docs
  • Eager to learn and proactive about improving and pursuing professional development

$16 – $18 an hour

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
  • The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-15 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

Work Environment

  • General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.
  • Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.
  • Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
