We are looking for a talented and passionate senior content designer to join our team who has a deep understanding of UX principles, and has proven experience creating engaging and interactive content for various media platforms, including websites, social media, presentations, and more.

As a content designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of IBM.com by defining successful content design strategies and leading the creation of cohesive, engaging, human-centered web experiences. To be successful in this role, you should have an eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of UX and visual design trends to design compelling and effective content across digital platforms.

Your Role and Responsibilities

You must bring a strong technical background, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to think strategically and holistically. You will work collaboratively to ensure cohesive, on-brand and human-centered designs across digital platforms while leading the growth and capabilities of the content design team.

You’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams to craft compelling digital content across various interactive content for various media platforms, as well as managing and coaching designers and stakeholders, incorporating user research feedback into content creation and design strategies, and continuously ensure quality content and web performance across platforms.

  • Define and drive UX and content design strategy for IBM.com while meeting business objectives and user needs.
  • Manage design projects, including setting goals, scheduling, and other project management tasks.
  • Craft and iterate various types of high-quality digital content, including blog posts, articles, web copy and visuals, social media, and more.
  • Work closely with creative director, UX designers, stakeholders, and web developers to ensure seamless user experiences across digital platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency of brand messaging and visual design in alignment with IBM’s brand standards.
  • Coach junior content designers to ensure their work meets IBM’s brand standards and style guidelines, such as Carbon design system and IBM’s Design Language.
  • Analyze performance metrics to measure content effectiveness using data insights to continually refine content strategies and drive engagement.
  • Conduct thorough research on industry trends, user experience, and emerging technologies including generative AI to stay ahead of the curve and incorporate findings into design strategies.
  • Review and updating SEO strategies and applying them to content creation in order to expand reach.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends to understand audience needs and iterate content design appropriately.
  • Work closely with design team to implement IBM Carbon Design System in all solutions.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Proven experience as a UX and/or content designer with a strong portfolio showcasing your design work in various interactive media platforms.
  • Extensive experience in content strategy development and execution.
  • Strong leadership, and team and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in using Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects), content management systems, SEO tools, Google Analytics, and other relevant software.
  • Exceptional understanding of brand consistency and the ability to adapt voice and tone for specific audiences.
  • Deep understanding of user experience and human-centered design.
  • Strong understanding of usability principles, information architecture, and human-centered design.
  • Familiarity with responsive design principles and mobile-first design methodologies
  • Strong understanding of design principles, color theory, and typography.
  • Experience working with design systems and the learning agility to quickly gain mastery over the IBM Design system, Carbon design system as well as IBM Branding guidelines and UI best practices.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
